We Gave Some Big Love in 2021! by Lee McKnight

Our Love Big, Give Big year-end giving campaign came to a close on December 20th. You nominated thirty five organizations doing work around the globe tackling issues like climate justice, animal welfare, affordable housing, social justice, and education. The organizations and the total contribution we are making to each, as a result of your selections, are shown above and listed alphabetically below.

The grand total you helped us contribute is: $8,450!

Thank you all for helping us shine a light on and support the work of these incredible organizations. We are grateful to know and work with all of you. We can do so much more together than alone.

Worried About The Supply Chain This Holiday Season? by Lee McKnight

Fair enough. Lucky for all of us, we live in Portland, the city where nearly everyone you know makes something cool. So if you want to share that maker-magic with people near or far, it's a good idea to start ordering now.

Shopping at Portland's small businesses is a fantastic way to keep funds and jobs in our local economy. If you're pressed for time or just not keen to shop indoors, these companies offer ways to gift a very Portland assortment with the folks on your list this year.

Cellar 503: a wine club featuring small-producer wines from Oregon's 21 wine regions

Parcel Portland: curated gift boxes in appealing, yet understated packages

Hyacinth-Orange: plant subscriptions for the houseplant obsessed in PDX

Spruce Supply Co: casting a slightly broader gift-box net with goods from the Pacific Northwest

The Ground Is Green Again! by Lee McKnight

All of the rain last week makes it hard to remember when it was so hot and dry this summer that all of the local garden stores were sending out how-to prevent scorching instructions.

Whether the heat prompted you to think about swapping your lawn for drought-tolerant grasses, or the time you spent at home this past 18 months made you want green space instead of a driveway, we want you to know about an incredible local landscaping resource.

PT Lawn Seed has been doing the local seed thing for grasses and green spaces since 1979, in the heart of SE Portland. They understand that the American lawn is evolving, and they'd love to discuss your landscaping plans.

How to Think About ROIs on Renovation and Remodeling Projects by Lee McKnight

We know how much homeowners want to know what kind of return on investment to expect on remodeling and renovation projects. So each year, clients forward us links to articles like this and tools like this and ask us how we feel about things like stone veneer siding.

We understand that everyone wants to invest wisely, and yet, these write-ups and calculators often lack in-depth knowledge of local markets.

RMLS Market Action Report by Lee McKnight

Good news! The months of inventory (homes for sale) went up to 1.1 months. Hopefully, the increase in new listings means that we are getting out of the less-than-one-month territory. I guess sellers got the news that it's a good time to sell. Heading into the winter, we typically see listings fall (see page 3 for a graph of listings over the seasons), but if we have learned anything in the last 18 months–there is a new normal. Stay tuned!
