The early days of 2021 have reminded us that we still need to fight for our democracy with every fiber in our bodies. As we push forward, I believe it's also important that we reflect on the hard-earned victories for our community that culminated in 2020– a year that will go down in history as monumental in many ways, most of them painful reminders of our vulnerabilities.
I think, hope, and strategize differently when I feel grateful. I'm not sure about silver linings, but I do know that the ever-present undertow of darkness in 2020 forced me to paddle hard towards the light. As a result, I got in a lot of gratitude reps. Here are a handful of things from my list that represent the ways our community moved in what I believe to be the direction of our better nature.
