We Are Senior Real Estate Specialists by Lee McKnight

Last year we became certified Senior Real Estate Specialists (SRES®) to further expand the ways we are able to support our clients. We work with clients in all stages of life and levels of experience in the real estate market. Each client has a unique set of goals and concerns, and we pride ourselves on providing the best service and expertise in every transaction.

Oftentimes when clients are making moves later in life, they need assistance with downsizing and strategizing what to do with a lifetime of treasures. We have gathered a team of experts to help with this daunting chore in order to streamline the process in a way that honors the emotions that may accompany those decisions.

Finding inventory that fits the variety of needs our senior clients may have (eg: single level or master on the main, close to family members, low maintenance) can mean getting creative in our city of vintage single-family homes. We brainstorm as a team to make sure we have turned over every rock and keep close tabs on neighborhoods and communities that fit this bill.

Ready, Set, Stay by Lee McKnight

I've lost track of the number of clients who have confessed that they become most attached to their home right before they sell it. Sometimes–although it's rare–clients make preparations to sell only to realize they like their home so much that they decide to stay.

The old adage about not knowing what you've got until it's gone probably holds true here, but it's also true that part of preparing a home for sale is fixing, clearing out, and cleaning it up. In other words, we do the most work on our homes right before we leave them. What would it be like if we made and kept our homes beautiful for ourselves?

RMLS Market Action Report by Lee McKnight

As we look back at the Real Estate market performance in 2020, it's hard to reconcile it with the overall economic picture While we all thought we would be sidelined in March when the stay at home order was issued, a combination of factors had us sprinting to keep up with demand and comply with Covid safe practices. We had to learn how to do our job in a different way altogether.

The divide between the have and have nots widened as those who were lucky enough to keep their jobs decided they wanted to trade up in houses or make the move into homeownership to avoid dense apartment living. In the end, we saw record low inventory and steep demand. As interest rates continue their downward trajectory, I don't see the formula changing anytime soon. If you are thinking of taking advantage of this strong sellers market and sell some property, or you want to know how to navigate the competition as a buyer, give us a call

Good Things That Happened in 2020 by Lee McKnight

The early days of 2021 have reminded us that we still need to fight for our democracy with every fiber in our bodies. As we push forward, I believe it's also important that we reflect on the hard-earned victories for our community that culminated in 2020– a year that will go down in history as monumental in many ways, most of them painful reminders of our vulnerabilities.

I think, hope, and strategize differently when I feel grateful. I'm not sure about silver linings, but I do know that the ever-present undertow of darkness in 2020 forced me to paddle hard towards the light. As a result, I got in a lot of gratitude reps. Here are a handful of things from my list that represent the ways our community moved in what I believe to be the direction of our better nature.

RMLS Market Action Report by Lee McKnight

RMLS Sept 2020.png

While the RMLS has not published November's numbers yet, I think we will continue to see the same as we see in these October numbers, only more dramatic. The trajectories of low active listings and high pending listings (historically) have not abated and we find ourselves in a particularly aggressive seller's market.

It is more important than ever to be an informed and empowered buyer and if you are thinking of selling, you could find yourself navigating a dramatic bidding war. As always, we are here to help.
